This is how waste water is treated at the Bundamba Water Treatment Plant in Queensland.

The used water comes from a wastewater treatment plant, it is then sent to a water purification plant. The water is pumped into a clarification tank, this removes dissolved phosphorous and suspended particles. The particles then clump up and fall to the bottom of the tank. The water is forced through thin straw-like micro-filtration fibres to remove microscopic particles. Salts, Viruses, Organic Compounds and Micro Organisms are removed from the water using Reverse Osmosis. Advanced Oxidation is the process in which removes any remaining chemical or organic molecules. Small amounts of line and carbon dioxide are added to the Purified Recycled Water. The water is stored in a storage tank until it is pumped out to power stations.
